This Privacy Policy explains what information CookSync collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Account information (name, email, password), profile details you choose to add (city, bio, avatar), the recipes, photos, favorites, and reviews you create, and your in-app cooking preferences (e.g. keep-screen-awake, timer sound).

2. How we use it

To operate your account, show your content to other users where you've chosen to make it public, personalize the app, and keep the service secure (for example, refreshing your login session).

3. Image storage via Cloudinary

Photos you upload — avatars and recipe photos — are sent directly from your device to Cloudinary, our media hosting provider, using a short-lived signed upload link issued by our server. The image files themselves never pass through CookSync's own servers.

4. Push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)

If you allow notifications, the app registers a device token with Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), a Google service, so CookSync can send you push notifications (for example, when someone interacts with your recipes). We store this device identifier alongside your account. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings; uninstalling the app or deleting your account removes the token from active use.

5. Cookies & local storage

The app stores a session (access and refresh tokens) and a few local preferences on your device so you stay signed in and your device settings are remembered. These aren't used for third-party advertising.

We don't sell your data. Your published recipes and favorites are shown to other users only according to the privacy choices you set in Account details; your private notes always stay hidden.

Service providers that process data on our behalf: Cloudinary (image hosting), Firebase Cloud Messaging / Google (push notifications), Render (application hosting), and a MySQL database hosting provider (account and content storage).

7. Data retention & deletion

If you delete your account, your recipes and reviews are hidden immediately and your account is permanently deleted after 30 days, unless you log back in within that window to cancel the deletion.

8. Your choices

You can review and update your profile information, toggle what's visible on your public profile, and delete your account at any time from Account details.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
